California Produces Over-Supply of Stupid; Looks for New Uses

"In a move that will likely get California's consumers in a huff, impending legislation may soon restrict the paint color options for Golden State residents looking for their next new vehicle. The specific colors that are currently on the chopping block are all dark hues, with the worst offender seemingly the most innocuous color you could think of: Black. What could California possibly have against these colors, you ask? Apparently, the California Air Resources Board figures that the climate control systems of dark colored cars need to work harder than their lighter siblings – especially after sitting in the sun for a few hours."

Apparently, California politicians and bureaucrats don't have enough to do, and must justify their existence with, well, anything. In the future, perhaps as a result of this and similar pronouncements from on high, as they mark their ballots, maybe a few more Californians will think slightly longer about the effect of enlarging their government any further. But Californians seem mostly immune to learning too much, however reality has certainly been smacking them around more as of late...

Suzanna Gratia-Hupp: What the 2nd Amendment is REALLY For (Google Video)

"Texas state representative, Suzanna Gratia-Hupp, whose parents were killed by an insane gunman while her gun was out in the car, gives very moving and bold testimony about the REAL reason that the second amendment was designed to protect our God-given right to keep and bear arms."

Homeless by Choice

This is the "survival guide to homelessness". It's quite interesting. 'Counter-culture' is usually always interesting to learn about, since, by definition, it's a different culture. You really don't have to go to a foreign country to experience this.

I also happened upon a newer blog, Homeless by Choice, that is also a good read. For a personal anecdote, Glowing Face Man has a homeless-by-choice story.

HR 875: The food nazi's are at it again

"This bill is sitting in committee and I am not sure when it is going to hit the floor. One thing I do know is that very few of the Representatives have read it. As usual they will vote on this based on what someone else is saying. Urge your members to read the legislation and ask for opposition to this devastating legislation. Devastating for everyday folks but great for factory farming ops like Monsanto, ADM, Sodexo and Tyson to name a few."

As we've seen happen repeatedly in history, der Schtaat will starve you to death if given a chance.

Cost of Government Day 2008

We Are All Idiots Now.

"Below is the Cost of Government Day for each state based on the varying government burdens suffered in each state. Federal spending burdens vary because relatively higher burdens are borne by states with relatively higher incomes. Of course, state and local tax and spending burdens vary by state as well.
The highest state Cost of Government Day is once again in Connecticut, with the average worker toiling all the way until the end of the month, July 31, to pay the costs of government at all levels. Second place now belongs to New Jersey, with COGD now falling on July 30. New York is right behind on July 28. These three mismanaged states have sacrificed economic growth and personal liberty at the expense of the public employee unions, with little consideration given to taxpayers."

Oh no! An Onion reporter has escaped and invaded reality!!!

Seriously... it's hard to make this kind of stuff up constantly, but really there's no need, since the Obama administration is providing plenty of amusement... for free! Oh no! They might put The Onion out of business!

"After promising to “push the reset button” on relations with Moscow, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned to present Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a light-hearted gift at their talks here Friday night to symbolize the Obama administration’s desire for a new beginning in the relationship. It didn’t quite work out as she planned."

"Going John Galt"

"Is it time to go John Galt? Do you ever wonder after dealing with all that is going on with the economy and the upcoming election if it’s getting to be time to “go John Galt”? For those of you who have never read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, the basic theme is that John Galt and his allies take actions that include withdrawing their talents, “stopping the motor of the world,” and leading the “strikers” (those who refuse to be exploited) against the “looters” (the exploiters, backed by the government)."

I don't think the 'looters' have really thought things through. Do they really think that they can just keep taking from productive people forever? (Of course, their scheme has worked for this long so maybe they do have a reasonable expectation that the status quo will continue indefinitely.) But I'm seeing that the friction in the system is increasing exponentially, and things are heating up rapidly. As more producers drop out, it increases the load on the remainder, and they burn out faster. So what happens to the looters when no one wants to be the productive chump anymore? It seems that we'll find out sooner rather than later!
